Our Love Of Home

‘Home’ is such an important part of all of our lives, and never more so, with so many of us still riding the wave of the global pandemic and spending more time at home with our loved ones. This has lead to a trend of people tackling their home interiors, making house pride a priority.

A Good Homes report, developed by the Happiness Research in Copenhagen found that our homes rank 3rd when it comes to our overall happiness, just behind mental health and physical well-being. House happiness superseded financial wealth and social standing which is frankly very reassuring in an increasingly material world that is often portrayed through a filter on social media.

We can have conscious and sometimes subconscious reactions to our living spaces. For starters, it’s where we begin and end our often crazy busy lives. As a mother of three children under 6 I know that at the end of each day, I not only need a space where my husband and I can wind down and feel comfortable and relaxed, but somewhere that also sparks sparks the ‘warm fuzzies’ in us both.

Often, people’s houses can be a sea of beige, not necessarily out of choice, but because starting a room project is daunting and we get stuck on which colours, tones, furniture and furnishings will work in a room. This confusion and indecisiveness sometimes leads people to walk away from making those changes leading to a house that can feel a little neglected or ‘half complete’.

Alarm bells may ring at the thought of how much these home improvements will cost, but there are budget friendly changes that can be made to both owned and rented properties that can provide that deep feeling of satisfaction and allow you sit back and admire your new decorated space with contentment. Everyone deserves to have a home that feels like a sanctuary but you can only develop that love if you live in a space that welcomes and inspires you and makes you feel relaxed.

At Colour for Living we believe in the power that our homes can have on our mental health and well-being, no matter how small ...or how big, and we want to help you achieve that!
